Purpose And Scope:

The professional registered nurse Outpatient RN CAP 1 is an entry level designation into the Clinical Advancement Program (CAP). This position is accountable for providing and coordinating clinically competent care, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. It may include delegating tasks to direct patient care staff such as RNs, LVN/LPNs, and Patient Care Technicians. As part of the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) healthcare team, this role involves decision-making, teaching, leadership, and quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes and facility operations.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties under supervision and guidance from the Clinical Educator, Preceptor, or other RNs.
  • Collect and analyze patient data pre-, during-, and post-hemodialysis, document findings, and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Assess and document patient/family learning needs; provide education.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to deliver safe and effective hemodialysis therapy.
  • Administer prescribed medications and document their effectiveness.
  • Assist with emergency response measures.
  • Participate in staff training and orientation.
  • Ensure proper laboratory procedures are followed.
  • Update nursing assessments and care plans collaboratively.
  • Inform patients about transplant and treatment options.
  • Complete CAP requirements for advancement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Involves heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation.
  • Requires prolonged standing and bending.
  • May involve moving equipment up to 200 lbs. with assistance.
  • Work environment typical of healthcare facilities; may involve exposure to infectious materials.
  • Includes desk work, computer use, and interaction with staff and patients.
  • Travel may be required.
Supervision:

Oversight of Patient Care Technicians/LPNs/LVNs/RNs as a Team Leader or Nurse in Charge, after meeting specific experience and training requirements.

Education and Licensure:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current state licensure.
  • CPR/BLS certification.
  • Meet state practice requirements.
Experience and Skills:
  • Entry level for RNs with less than 2 years of Nephrology Nursing experience.
  • Preferred: Chronic/acute hemodialysis experience.

Addendum:

For FTN Group - International RN: Bachelor’s degree required, along with CGFNS Visa Screen, NCLEX pass, or RN license, plus current BLS certification and state practice compliance.

The pay rate depends on location and qualifications: $30 - $51/hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, parental leave, and potential bonuses for eligible positions.
