They may delegate tasks to direct care staff and participate in quality improvement activities, education, and decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing patient data collection before, during, and after dialysis, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
• Provide patient and family education on treatment options and care needs.
• Administer medications, initiate emergency responses, and ensure safe delivery of hemodialysis therapy.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to update care plans and document patient progress.
• Ensure proper laboratory procedures and assist in staff training and orientation.
• Support patient awareness regarding transplant and treatment modalities.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current state licensure.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• Entry-level RN with less than 2 years of nephrology experience; dialysis experience preferred.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, moving patients, and standing for extended periods.

Additional Duties

Assist with laboratory procedures, provide patient education, participate in staff training, and perform other assigned duties in accordance with policies and regulations.

Supervision & Environment

May oversee care staff after meeting experience and training criteria.

The work involves a healthcare facility environment with exposure to infectious materials and physical demands including heavy lifting and prolonged standing.
