Job summary

Riverside Health System in Yorktown, Virginia is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to implement individualized programs for patients with acute and chronic conditions, under supervision, to maximize quality of life and functional goals.

The PTA will maintain collaborative relationships with other health professionals and staff, perform planned procedures, document progress, and educate patients on interventions.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or CAPTE-approved program graduate.
• CAPTE accreditation required to practice as PTA in Virginia.

Responsibilities

• Follows the plan of care and performs PTA procedures under supervision to restore function and mobility.
• Assesses patient needs by analyzing data and identifying age-specific needs for care.
• Participates in training and support of team members, volunteers and students.
• Records patient progress and communicates results to the supervising physical therapist.
• Treats patients through exercises, massage, gait and balance training, and other interventions.
• Provides patient education on interventions.
