Job summary

Riverside Health System seeks a qualified Physical Therapist Assistant to implement individualized plans of care for patients with acute or chronic conditions, in inpatient and/or outpatient settings. The PTA works under Rehab Services management and collaborates with the health team to maximize function and quality of life.

Education required: CAPTE program graduate or Associate Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant; active Virginia PTA license; CPR/BLS certification within 30 days; and 1 year

Qualifications

• CAPTE program graduate or equivalent.
• Associates Degree in Physical Therapy Assistant.
• Virginia PTA license required upon hire or soon after.

Responsibilities

• Follows the plan of care and performs PTA procedures as allowed by referral to aid in restoring function, improving mobility, relieving pain, and preventing or limiting permanent physical disabilities.
• Assesses patients' needs and status by analyzing evaluated data and interprets information, identifying age-specific needs and providing care accordingly.
• Assists and participates in the training and support of all team members, volunteers and students.
• Records patients' progress and reports the results of each treatment to the physical therapist.
• Treats patients through exercise, massage, gait and balance training, and other therapeutic interventions.
• Provides patient education on interventions.
