Job summary

Central City Health in Detroit is seeking a board-certified Psychiatrist to lead outpatient psychiatric care for adults 18+. You will evaluate, diagnose, and manage a range of conditions, prescribing medications as clinically appropriate, while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team and adhering to Michigan state requirements.

The role emphasizes patient-centered care, documentation in EHR, and participation in team huddles and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Michigan licensure as a Medical Doctor.
• Must meet all Continuing Education requirements.
• Prior experience working in a community mental health is preferred.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with staff in the delivery of service to patient.
• BLS and ACLS is required.
• Knowledge of PCMH.
• Provide direct, patient-centered care to adult patients aged 18 and older.
• Maintain active licensure and complete required continuing medical education.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication reviews.
• Analyzes and interprets patient histories, symptoms, physical findings.
• Assigns diagnoses and consults with primary care providers.
• Evaluates need for psychotropic medications and prescribes as indicated.
• Provides medication reviews to monitor effectiveness and side effects.
• Counsels patients about drug regimens and interactions.
• Detects and responds to adverse drug reactions.
• Conducts Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) tests.
• Authorizes IPOS via electronic signature.
