Job summary

Decypher seeks a Psychiatric Care Technician to provide clinical and administrative support in an outpatient psychiatric setting at Lovell Federal Health Care Center, North Chicago, IL. You will assist with patient screening, basic assessments, crisis management, and coordination of care in line with established policies.

The role requires one year of experience post-graduation, BLS certification, and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program (NCPT certification or state license a plus, but not required for this role)
• Completion of equivalent education and experience meeting AAPT requirements
• Behavioral health credentialing/certification exposure or military training acceptable

Responsibilities

• Monitor, escort, and participate as a therapeutic participant in outpatient clinic activities.
• Provide patient care with infection control and safety procedures, document findings, and inform supervising clinician of abnormal findings.
• Screen patients for problems and appointment priority; assist with initial screening and standardized testing; support diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Assist in individual and group therapy sessions; observe, report, and document patient progress; implement safety measures for suicide/homicide/elopement; maintain PMDB certification.
• Present health and wellness programs (stress management, suicide prevention, smoking cessation) and coordinate with base agencies for care continuity.
• Schedule patients and coordinate referrals following SOPs; explain mental health services to patients and commands; support referrals for alternative care levels.
