Job summary

Rehab Associates of Central Virginia is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant to join our outpatient clinic team. You will implement therapy programs, follow recovery plans, and help restore and enhance patients' physical abilities.

Responsibilities include documentation, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, and collaboration with therapists to coordinate care for diverse patient populations in Virginia. A valid VA PTA license or eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapy Assistant or ability to obtain it in Virginia.
• Exercise, sports rehab, and manual-based skills.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care by established protocols and patient care guidelines.
• Responsible for timely documentation, including daily notes, weekly workers' compensation reports, progress reports, and incident reports.
• Provide comprehensive patient care, administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, therapeutic massage, heat, light, sound, water, and electrical modality treatments.
• Administers traction to relieve neck and back pain.
• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in learning and improving functional activities such as perambulation, transfer, ambulation, and daily living activities.
• Observes patients during treatments, compiles data on patients’ responses to treatments and progress, and reports to the Physical Therapist and Clinical Director.
• Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs.
• Confers with physical therapy staff and other health team members to plan, modify, and coordinate treatment programs.
• Measures range of motion, body part dimensions, and vital signs to determine treatment effects.
