The laboratories of IU Health offer some of the most comprehensive laboratory services in Indiana! Open 24/7, they perform over 19 million tests annually. Besides IU Health, services are extended to hospitals and physicians nationwide.

Position Details

This Outpatient Phlebotomy Float Pool position covers IU Health North (Carmel), Saxony (Fishers), and West (Avon) Outpatient Labs.

• Mileage reimbursement provided.
• Shift hours vary from 8:00 am to 6:15 pm, with 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday. Labs are also open on Saturday mornings, and floats may be scheduled to work on Saturdays as needed.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with multiple IU Health Outpatient Laboratory Teams. The Lab Assistant I performs general laboratory services including specimen collection, order entry, blood component preparation, pre-analytic processing, and related clerical tasks. Responsibilities may also include patient and specimen registration and specimen delivery.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Completion of a phlebotomy training program; laboratory experience or coursework in biological, chemical, or related sciences preferred.
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and a good driving record over the past three years may be required.
• Understanding of Indiana traffic laws.
• Proven computer skills.
• Excellent telephone skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
