Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a detail-oriented Phlebotomist to collect blood samples safely for testing and research. You will process specimens, label appropriately, and ensure accuracy in the LIS system while maintaining patient confidentiality and high-quality service.

The role requires adherence to safety standards and collaboration with clinical staff, with on-site responsibilities in Dallas, TX. A high school diploma and BLS are required; phlebotomy training is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• BLS certification required.
• Preferred: completion of a Phlebotomy program.
• ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtain blood specimens by venipuncture and/or capillary puncture with minimal trauma.
• Instruct patients on proper collection of urine samples and ensure proper labeling.
• Enter lab orders and verify tests in EPIC Beaker; ensure accurate order details.
• Maintain positive patient identification and specimen integrity throughout collection and transport.
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients of all ages and backgrounds.
• Monitor specimen transport/storage and ensure protocol adherence.
