Job summary

Cayuga Health is seeking a Laboratory Collection - Phlebotomist I for full-time days FLEX to support outpatient operations with precise venipuncture, accurate Epic registration, and quality specimen handling.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and phlebotomy training or two years of experience, with a focus on patient safety, HIPAA compliance, and timely processing. Weekend rotation and on-site work at Cayuga Medical Center are included.

Qualifications

• Preferred: problem solving ability and attention to detail.
• Good written and oral communication skills preferred.
• Ability to prioritize work and manage time.

Responsibilities

• Performs proper venipuncture and post care of phlebotomy site with two forms of ID and no labeling errors.
• Accurate patient registration, requisitioning, and Epic proficiency.
• Proper labeling, processing and preparation of specimens for testing.
• Complete specimen batches timely for courier or tube system.
• Communicate outpatient needs for inventory and system reporting.
• Complete all daily/weekly/monthly checklists and documentation.
• Follow policies and maintain a compliant environment with HIPAA and safety guidelines.
• Participate in QA programs and maintain department workflow requirements.
• Maintain educational requirements and training in outpatient lab workflows.
• Be flexible and willing to change for the team’s benefit.
