Job description

DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, will perform a full range of duties in a specialized functional area and be able to perform all general tasks in all areas of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assists in the distribution of medications; maintains skills applicable to all information systems within the pharmacy, recordkeeping, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; and performs other duties as assigned. Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned area.

Depending on experience of the selected candidate, this position will be hired at the Pharm Tech II or Pharm Tech III.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). (Pharm III)
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Minimum two to five years of relevant experience required.
  • Ability to perform retail/outpatient technician duties (e.g., Order Entry, Filling, Cash Handling, etc.).
  • Experience in project management/system responsibility (e.g., Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst); OR being a Pharmacy School graduate; OR expanded responsibilities over several areas; OR possessing a Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Must be driven to self-teach in a rapidly changing clinical environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with both patients and providers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a specialty pharmacy or in an HIV Care Pharmacy.
  • Experience with HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Medications.
  • Knowledge of 340b Regulatory requirements.
  • Previous retail pharmacy experience in specialty diseases (e.g., Multiple Sclerosis, Oncology, Rheumatoid Arthritis, HIV/AIDS, Transplant, Hepatitis C).
  • Ability and willingness to seek out additional copayment support programs for high-cost medications.
  • Desire to achieve optimal patient care outcomes with each encounter.
  • Compliance with specialty disease competency programs required by accreditation bodies.
  • Comfort with public speaking and advocating for justified positions.
  • Flexibility to address any pharmacy needs that may arise unexpectedly.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $64,519 - $80,200 (prorated if less than full-time).

Hourly Range: $30.90 - $38.41.

Compensation factors include experience, skills, knowledge, education, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. The posted pay scale is an estimate of the budgeted salary range, which may vary based on internal equity and other factors.
