Description

Under general supervision, performs a full range of duties in a specialized functional area and all general pharmacy tasks. Assists pharmacists in medication preparation (oral and parenteral), distribution, maintains information systems, manages inventory, and performs other duties as assigned. Supports operational duties and medication order fulfillment in the assigned area.

The position will be hired at Pharm Tech II or III depending on experience.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) for Pharm Tech III.
  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to perform outpatient technician duties (Order Entry, Filling, Cash Handling, etc.).
  • Experience with project/system responsibilities (Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst), or pharmacy school graduate, or expanded responsibilities, or Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Self-motivated to learn in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with patients and providers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years in a specialty or HIV care pharmacy.
  • Experience with HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis medications.
  • Knowledge of 340b regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with specialty diseases (MS, Oncology, Rheumatoid Arthritis, HIV/AIDS, Transplant, Hepatitis C).
  • Ability to seek out copayment support programs for high-cost medications.
  • Commitment to patient care outcomes.
  • Willingness to complete specialty competency programs.
  • Public speaking skills for promoting pharmacy services.
  • Flexibility to address unexpected pharmacy needs.
Special Conditions
  • Ability to work various hours and locations.
  • Employment contingent on background check and physical exam.
Compensation

Annual full pay range: $64,519 - $80,200. Hourly: $30.90 - $38.41. Salary depends on experience, skills, education, licensure, and organizational needs.

Additional Requirements

Compliance with UC policies on vaccination and, if applicable, life-support certifications.
