Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician I for the Outpatient Pharmacy. This full-time role (40 hours per week) operates under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist and supports dispensing.

The position emphasizes training new staff, maintaining supplies, triaging questions, using pharmacy systems, and ensuring QA. A Virginia Pharmacy Tech license and a PTCB/NHA certification are required; one year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Pharmacy technician license required in the state of practice.
• CPhT license (NHA or PTCB) required.
• 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience required.
• High-paced/high-volume store experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the training of new employees
• Ensures adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care
• Triages and escalates questions outside the pharmacy technician's scope of practice as needed
• Uses appropriate systems for processing patient information
• Assumes local and/or system responsibility for assigned tasks related to pharmacy operations
• Ensures quality assurance is maintained according to departmental and legal requirements
• Operates pharmacy equipment appropriately
• Other duties may be assigned
