Job summary

North Wilkesboro Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in North Wilkesboro, NC, is seeking a Substance Use Counselor to support patients in outpatient MAT for opioid use disorder. The role focuses on delivering compassionate care across individual and group counseling sessions and documenting progress within a multidisciplinary team.

Required credentials include CADC-I/ CADC/ LCAS-A/ LCAS/ LCSW-A/ LCSW/ LCMHC-A/ LCMHC; licensure or certification is required to apply.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in social/health services preferred.
• Degree with practicum for licensure required.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience counseling individuals and groups for substance use recovery.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI and relapse prevention techniques.
• Strong clinical documentation in line with state/federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality individual and group counseling.
• Plan, oversee, document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of care and incidents.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Refer patients to other programs when needed.
• Provide crisis intervention and case management as required.
