Job summary

Chula Vista Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC), part of Acadia Healthcare's network, seeks a Substance Use Counselor to support patients with opioid use disorder through individual and group counseling. You will document progress and develop care plans in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Qualifications

• HS graduate or equivalent required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in social or health services field preferred.
• Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings.
• Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions.
• Knowledge of CBT, MI, and relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation experience per state/federal guidelines.
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality counseling in individual and group sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of patient care and incidents.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for assigned patients.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and referrals to other programs.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention as needed.
• Manage casework for patients and ensure quality care.
• Liaise between referral sources and patients when needed.
