Job summary

Cedar Rapids Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) is seeking a Substance Use Counselor (tCADC, CADC) for our Outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program in Cedar Rapids, IA. This full-time position (36 hours/week) offers early hours and ongoing opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities include individual and group counseling, treatment planning, and crisis intervention, with a focus on recovery from Opioid Use Disorder.

Qualifications

• Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in social or health services field required.
• Familiarity with Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone.
• Experience conducting individual and group counseling sessions for substance use recovery.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practices like CBT, MI, relapse prevention techniques.
• Documentation experience: notes, treatment plans, progress updates per state/federal guidelines.
• Familiarity with state regulatory standards (e.g., 42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
• Experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary team with medical staff, case managers, and peer support specialists.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality, compassionate guidance in individual and group counseling sessions.
• Plan, oversee, facilitate and document patient recovery.
• Co-facilitate assigned group or family sessions as needed.
• Ensure timely, clear documentation of patient care, treatment, and incidents.
• Prepare individual treatment plans for each assigned patient.
• Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
• Evaluate patient needs and determine referrals to other programs.
• May plan for aftercare for assigned patients.
• Provide crisis intervention to patients as needed.
• Provide case management to ensure individualized quality care.
