Job summary

Harris Health System is seeking an Outpatient Occupational Therapist to provide evaluation and treatment focused on hand and upper-extremity rehabilitation. You will work with a diverse outpatient population within a comprehensive care team, delivering evidence-based care and ensuring accurate documentation.

The role emphasizes collaboration with physicians, therapists, and support staff to maximize functional independence across episodes of care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
• Current Texas OT license or eligibility.
• Current BLS certification, if required by the organization.
• Ability to evaluate and treat a diverse outpatient population.
• Strong communication, clinical reasoning, organizational, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations and develop individualized plans of care.
• Provide treatment for hand, wrist, elbow, and upper-extremity conditions.
• Address range of motion, strength, coordination, edema, pain, sensation, and functional use of the upper extremity.
• Provide therapeutic exercise, neuromuscular re-education, and functional training.
• Fabricate and fit orthoses/splints as appropriate.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and activity modification.
• Establish measurable functional goals and reassess progress.
• Collaborate with physicians and rehabilitation staff to support coordinated care.
