Job Details

Responsible for accurate coding of outpatient records, including outpatient, ERs, and ASU records using ICD 10 diagnosis codes and CPT procedure codes. Assists with abstracting when needed.

Responsibilities

• Assign proper ICD 10 diagnosis codes to outpatient records (Radiology, Cardiology, Clinics).
• Assign proper ICD 10 diagnosis and procedure codes and CPT codes to Emergency Department Records.
• Assign proper ICD-10 diagnosis and procedure codes and CPT codes to outpatient procedure records (ASU, Outpatient Medical).
• Review and complete Emergency Department charge sheets, assign E&M level, identify chargeable items.
• Abstract data from coded records into various computer programs as needed.
• Utilize computer systems efficiently; knowledge of Paragon system menus and reports, and other software.
• Perform other duties as needed to support coding area.
• Prioritize tasks and responsibilities to maximize efficiency.

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical Records, Physician's Office, or similar healthcare setting.

Education

• Minimum: High School or Equivalent.
• Preferred: Associate's Degree in Medical Records Technology, Nursing, or related field.

Licenses/Certifications

Required: 2+ years experience in Medical Records or similar healthcare experience.

Other

• Working knowledge of computer systems, PCs, networked environments, ability to interact with hospital personnel and medical staff, basic administrative skills.
• Preferred: Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
