Salary Range: $21.50 - $34.50
Reviews inpatient clinical documentation, procedural information, and diagnostic results to apply ICD-10-CM and PCS diagnostic and procedural codes used for billing, data reporting, research, compliance, and quality monitoring. Accurately assigns ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to conditions and procedures documented within the electronic medical record, following official coding guidelines and regulations. Maintains quality and productivity standards, stays updated on coding principles, regulations, and payer requirements. Collaborates with providers and departments to standardize and improve coding, documentation, and quality reporting practices. Works with various software solutions, often in a home-based setting.
Associate degree in Health Information Technology (or eligible) or Bachelor's in Health Information Management; Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required. Previous hospital coding experience and software experience are desirable. Must be certified or eligible to take certification exams; failure to pass after multiple attempts may lead to employment evaluation or termination.
