Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking an Outpatient Coder 2 Certified to validate clinical documentation and assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes for billing, reporting, and compliance. The role requires proficiency with encoder/CAC tools and strong analytical abilities.

The successful candidate will work within Hartford HealthCare's system-wide coding team, ensuring timely submissions and adherence to coding guidelines.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnostic and CPT/HCPCS procedure codes.
• Proficient in using Excel/Word and encoder/CAC software.
• Strong written/verbal communication and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate outpatient and professional documentation for coding accuracy.
• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, and E/M using designated software.
• Enter charges for non-soft coded procedures as required.
• Adhere to department policies, guidelines, and quality standards.
• Complete daily cases using assigned work lists and verify code integrity.
• Support special projects and training for new coders as needed.
