Job summary

The role involves researching codes for outpatient physician services, abstracting clinical information, and ensuring accurate, billable coding. Certifications such as CCS or CPC are preferred and knowledge of CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM/PCS is required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and two years of outpatient coding experience.
• CCS, CPC, CCS-P, or RHIA certifications are preferred.
• Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM/PCS and Medicare outpatient coding rules.

Responsibilities

• Research codes and abstract medical information for accurate, billable codes.
• Identify coding opportunities and recommend improvements.
• Monitor trends and escalate discrepancies to management.
