Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely outpatient medical coding based on clinical records.
• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of OBGYN coding including prenatal and postpartum care.
• Review records to identify diagnoses, procedures, and documentation needed for coding.
• Apply E/M coding guidelines and ensure proper documentation and coding sequencing.
• Identify missing or conflicting documentation and coordinate with teams for clarification.
• Follow ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, NCCI, and payer guidelines and maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Conduct coding audits and quality checks to improve accuracy and meet targets.
• Stay updated with annual coding changes and payer policies.

The candidate will be responsible for accurately reviewing medical documentation and assigning appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with official coding guidelines, payer requirements, and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely Outpatient medical coding based on provider documentation and clinical records.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for outpatient encounters.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of OBGYN coding, including prenatal, antenatal, postpartum, gynecological, and preventive care.
• Code OBGYN procedures such as office visits, pelvic examinations, ultrasounds, Pap smears, biopsies, IUD procedures, colposcopy, and other gynecological services as applicable.
• Review medical records to identify diagnoses, procedures, services, and supporting documentation required for accurate coding.
• Apply E/M coding guidelines, including appropriate documentation requirements and medical decision‑making principles.
• Ensure accurate sequencing of diagnoses and appropriate code selection based on clinical documentation.
• Identify missing, incomplete, or conflicting documentation and communicate with appropriate teams for clarification when required.
• Follow ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, NCCI, and payer‑specific coding guidelines.
• Maintain compliance with applicable coding, billing, and healthcare regulations.
• Conduct coding audits and quality checks to identify errors and improve coding accuracy.
• Meet established productivity, accuracy, quality, and turnaround‑time targets.
• Stay current with annual coding updates, OBGYN‑specific coding changes, payer policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational privacy policies.
