Job summary

Palomar Health in Escondido, CA is seeking an organized Medical Assistant to support outpatient rehabilitation services. You will register patients, input data, schedule visits, and assist clinicians with equipment and supplies, ensuring a smooth workflow in a fast-paced clinic.

• Minimum Education: Medical Assistant Certificate or Bachelor's degree in a health-related field with relevant front and back office experience in the past 12 months or completion of a Medical Assistant certificate program within the past year with 150+ hours internship

• Minimum Experience: Front and back office experience in the past 12 months or 150+ hours internship in the past 12 months
• Preferred Experience: Orthopedic, pulmonary, cardiology and/or neurological MD office clinic experience; bilingual Spanish preferred
• Required Certification: Certified CA State Medical Assistant (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Maintain effective public relations with patients and the health team.
• Assist Therapist/Technician with equipment setup, maintenance, and transport of supplies and medications.
• Clean and maintain outpatient clinic and patient care areas.
• Register patients and input data in the computer system.
• Schedule appointments with strong phone and customer service skills.
• Process, track, and verify department paperwork as assigned.
• Follow Palomar Health rules, policies, and applicable laws.

Maintains and fosters effective public relations with patients, the public and other disciplines of the health team.

Assist Therapist and/or Technician with equipment set up and maintenance, ordering, and transport of therapeutic supplies and approved medications/modalities.

Provides support with cleaning and maintaining outpatient clinic and patient care areas.

Register patients.

Inputs data in computer system, and assists with patients as necessary with completion of health forms.

Schedule with good phone and customer service skills.

Responsibility for processing, tracking and verifying department paperwork as assigned.

Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.

Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, internet, e-mail).

Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education: Successful completion of Medical Assistant Certificate program or completion of a Bachelor's degree in a health related profession, with relevant front and back office experience in the past 12 months or completion of Medical Assistant 9 month or greater certificate program within past year with 150+ hours of front and back office internship
