Job summary

Arch Health Partners, Inc. d/b/a Palomar Health Medical Group in California is seeking a Medical Assistant to support a busy Urology clinic.

You will register patients, take vital signs, assist with exams and procedures, prepare rooms, and help maintain accurate and confidential medical records. The ideal candidate will have a Medical Assistant Certificate (front and back office), 0–6 months of related experience, and strong customer service with good English skills.

Department: Urology Union: Shift: 8-hour Shift - Day (United States of America) Hours Per Pay Period: 80 Pay Range: $24.40-$34.16

Job Summary

• Under the supervision of an RN, LVN, physician assistant or physician, ensure quality patient care in clinic setting.
• Registers patients and inputs data in computer system, vital signs and health screening.
• Able to schedule, with good phone and customer service skills.
• Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment.
• Provides appropriate, direct patient care in assigned area(s).
• Takes patient's vital signs and provides personal care to patients.
• Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures.
• Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
• Ensures accurate maintenance of patient's medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.
• To support patient care, service excellence, and operational efficiency, employees may be expected to work in various units, departments, clinics, or locations as assigned.
• Assignments may change based on staffing levels, patient volume, and organizational needs.
• Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and infection control policies.
• Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
• Provides health care instruction to patient and family members.
• Documents transactions, phone conversations, observations, and orders in medical record according to policy and procedure of clinic.
• Responsible for following clinic policies and procedures for infection control in handling and disposing of infectious/hazardous waste materials.
• Responsible for accurate administration of medications as appropriate and collection/handling of lab specimens.
• Ability to speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position.
• Knowledge of standard office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, photocopier) and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail).
• Windows computer skills including proficient use of keyboarding, use of mouse or keys for functions such as selecting items, use of drop-down menus, scroll bars, opening folders, copying and similar operations required upon employment or within the 1st two weeks of employment to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Follows Palomar Health Medical Group rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards.
