SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, seeks an Outpatient Administrative Specialist to provide clinical admin support in the ambulatory area. You will assist with monthly reports, manage EPIC Referral WQs, and serve as a resource for providers on referral and authorization processes.

You will handle patient check-in/out, registration data, co-pays, and insurance requirements. Strong communication skills are essential for coordinating with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and two years of relevant patient financial/insurance services experience in a healthcare setting or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, billing/insurance requirements, and familiarity with medical coding.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsabilités

• Provide clinical administrative support in the ambulatory area.
• Assist with monthly activity reports by compiling statistics.
• Serve as SME for providers and staff on referral and authorization processes.
• Assist with patient check-in/out including registration and data verification.
• Manage EPIC Referral Work Queues and respond to inquiries by phone or mail.
• Advise patients on insurance carrier requirements and collect co-pays.
• Obtain authorizations, referrals, and manage denial processes efficiently.
• Perform additional administrative support duties as assigned.
