Job summary

Avenues Recovery Center in Metairie, LA is hiring a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program. You will conduct group therapy, teach coping strategies, and collaborate with clinical staff to support client progress.

We seek a Bachelor's in psychology or counseling, with licensure or certification eligibility (LPC/LCSW/CIT) and substance abuse experience. Strong communication and confidentiality are essential to this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, counseling or related field required.
• Valid state licensure/certification to practice in this role (LPC, LCSW or CIT).
• Substance abuse experience required.
• Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character which models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client's challenges and needs.
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools.
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to monitor client challenges and progress.
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted.
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed.
