Avenues Recovery Center is seeking a full-time Addiction Counselor for our Outpatient Program located in Metairie, LA. The role involves leading group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups to support clients in developing coping skills and recovery tools.

Successful candidates hold a psychology/counseling degree, required licensures (LPC/LCSW/CIT), and have substance abuse experience. A compassionate, confidential approach and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling or related field required.
• Valid state licensure / certification necessary to practice in this role, i.e. LPC, LCSW or CIT.
• Substance abuse experience required.
• Excellent observational, collaborative and interpersonal skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, dignified character which models recovery principles.
• Ability to set strong boundaries and maintain absolute confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Conduct group therapy, psychoeducation, and process groups designed to meet each client’s challenges and needs.
• Assist clients in developing healthy coping skills, positive behaviors, and recovery tools.
• Collaborate consistently with clinical staff to keep track of client challenges and progress.
• Escalate any significant client concerns to Clinical Director.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all group sessions conducted.
• Ensure all clinical assessments and individual client charting is completed.
