Overview

The Bartender is responsible for the complete setup of the bar area and the mixing of drinks for all guests and servers. The role involves maintaining the service and cleanliness of the bar area, ensuring quality service, guest satisfaction, and control over liquor inventory.

Responsibilities

1. Process guests’ checks, collect cash, and process credit cards and room charges according to standards.
2. Perform opening and closing side work according to standards to ensure prompt and efficient service.
3. Prepare beverages and cocktails according to standards, including mixing, portion control, and presentation.
4. Serve guests with all food and beverage requirements in a warm, friendly, courteous, and professional manner.
5. Keep lounge areas clean and tidy.
6. Be familiar with the computer system.
7. Carry out cashiering functions by closing checks and servicing guests.
8. Follow all state liquor laws.
9. Assist in maintaining beverage costs.
10. Serve liquor responsibly and report issues related to intoxicated guests to management.
11. Complete beverage requisitions to maintain par levels (bottle for bottle method).
12. Stock and clean glassware.
13. Check soda tanks to ensure they are full and properly secured.
14. Prepare garnishes.
15. Assist in cleaning tables and lounge areas as needed.
16. Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or related field preferred.
• Must be of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages according to local laws.
• Flexible with long hours sometimes required.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
• Ability to stand for the entire shift.
• Previous bartending experience helpful.
• Effective listening, understanding, and clarification skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
• Focus on productivity, problem-solving, and implementation of solutions.
