Job summary

Carter Lumber Company is hiring a Yard Associate for its Fort Wayne location. You will assist contractors and DIY customers with selecting and loading orders, pull and stage materials, and keep the yard neat and stocked. Training is provided for forklift operation and safety.

The role encompasses potential back-up driving for non-CDL trucks, with opportunities for CDL support and career growth within the company. Hours typically Monday through Friday starting early in the morning.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience required.
• Friendly personality essential.
• Familiarity with building materials helpful.
• Must be a team player and able to work outside in all conditions.
• Ability to lift 100 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Assist contractors and DIYers with order selection and loading.
• Pull and stage materials for pickup or delivery.
• Maintain Yard inventory with cycle counts and keep area organized.
• Serve as back-up driver for non-CDL trucks; CDL preferred.
• Load and deliver windows, exterior doors, interior trim and other items to jobsites within the area.
