Job summary

Lewis Tree Services is seeking a Trimmer Trainee in Manassas, VA to join our outdoor team. You’ll learn foundational skills in utility vegetation management while supporting tree trimming and line clearing for utility companies and other clients.

Qualifications

• 12 months of experience on tree crews as a Trimmer Trainee.
• Basic knowledge of tree species and pruning techniques.
• Ability to work at heights and use climbing gear or aerial lifts.
• Skilled in safe herbicide handling per guidelines.
• Valid driver's license; CDL and medical certification as required.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Acquire and maintain required training/licenses for safe herbicide use.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and situational awareness.

Responsibilities

• Ground-level and aloft pruning, felling, and vegetation removal to maintain clearance around power lines and equipment.
• Operate chainsaws, chippers, and related tools; lower limbs and rig trees.
• Assist with job site setup, maintenance, rigging, traffic control, and cleanup.
• Support site safety by spotting and communicating hazards.
• Travel as needed for work, including overnight stays.
