Reston Association (RA) is hiring a Tree Care Technician to join our Natural Areas team in Reston, VA. This entry‑level, full‑time role supports tree care, vegetation management, invasive species control, and natural area maintenance while learning arboriculture under experienced staff.

Responsibilities include pruning and removals, operating chainsaws, brush chippers, and hand tools; moving brush, hauling debris, and maintaining safe sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work.
• Ability to operate hand tools and equipment safely.
• Teamwork and effective communication.
• Six months to two years in related outdoor work preferred but not required.
• First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months.
• Experience operating chainsaws, brush chippers, trailers or similar equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with tree care, vegetation management, invasive species control, and natural area maintenance.
• Operate and maintain equipment such as chainsaws, brush chippers, trimmers, and hand tools.
• Move brush, haul debris, and maintain safe work sites.
• Support natural area restoration projects and monthly brush chipping programs.
• Respond professionally to member inquiries and assist with storm response and snow removal.
