Job summary

Roanoke County, Virginia is seeking a seasonal/occasional instructor to lead recreation programs at Explore Park, Camp Roanoke and other county destinations. The role involves teaching group classes, maintaining safety, and engaging participants with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities include scheduling, equipment management, and staying current with recreation trends. Applicants should have education or training in programming and experience teaching groups; CPR/First Aid/AED preferred; age

Qualifications

Education or training in the assigned area of programming and instruction.
Some experience in teaching/instructing groups.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Teaches group classes for designated subject or program.
Ensures participants are engaged and class adheres to standards.
Motivates participants to accomplish goals and continue classes.
Interacts with members, guests, and center staff to model an inviting atmosphere.
Stays current on recreation trends affecting programming area.
Starts and ends classes on time and returns equipment to proper location.
Recommends new or replacement equipment for areas.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with employees, contractors, customers, and the general public.
Fosters a team environment through daily work habits and a positive attitude.
Participates in meetings to stay informed about facility issues.
