Job summary

The Public Access Technician is a field-focused role within the FWC’s Division of Habitat and Species Conservation. It supports the Construction and Maintenance team by maintaining public access infrastructure and improving outdoor recreation on FWC-managed lands.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and 1 year of post-high school experience in wildlife, fisheries, environmental, ecological or related fields.
• An associate degree may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
• Must possess valid Florida driver’s license and be able to operate ATVs and light equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair public access infrastructure such as signs, trails, kiosks and boardwalks.
• Clear and maintain recreational trails and trailheads.
• Propose and evaluate new public access opportunities and monitor facilities.
• Work with staff to ensure compliance with agency and state requirements.
• Interact with outdoor recreation users and participate in volunteer events.
