Job summary

The Fish and Wildlife Technician role in Osceola County supports habitat restoration across about 12,000 acres, including prescribed fire management, vegetation control, and infrastructure maintenance for imperiled species like red-cockaded woodpeckers and northern bobwhites.

Based with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Northeast Region at Triple N Ranch and Herky Huffman/Bull Creek Wildlife Management Areas, the technician operates heavy equipment, assists with hunter

Qualifications

• Required field experience in wildlife, fisheries, environmental science or related areas.
• Ability to operate, maintain and repair heavy equipment and small engines.
• CDL within 270 days of appointment is required.
• Knowledge of wildlife management and prescribed burning practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
• Capable of lifting and carrying 50 pounds frequently.

Responsibilities

• Restore and enhance habitat across ~12,000 acres.
• Perform prescribed fire management and vegetation control.
