Job summary

Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area is seeking a full-time Project Manager 2 - Outdoor to manage medium-to-large engineering projects, including planning and status reporting, with a focus on software projects and some hardware work.

The role may mentor less-experienced PMs and drive process improvements across units. You will lead cross-functional teams, manage scope, milestones, and costs, and ensure clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• GPA 3.0 or higher as a general guideline
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Understanding of production and operations issues related to engineering project management
• Team-oriented with a positive attitude and collaborative mindset
• Excellent time management, organizational and follow-up abilities
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint or equivalent tools

Responsibilities

• Manages medium-to-large engineering projects, developing and communicating scope, milestones and decisions
• Identifies and supports process improvement activities
• Drives projects to closure with mitigation plans under guidance
• Maintains clear project status, documentation and reporting using established tools
• Demonstrates effective communication and handles difficult conversations
• Builds relationships and gains alignment within the department
• Resolves conflicts through understanding interdependencies among teams
• Leads effective and efficient team meetings
• Keeps stakeholders informed of scope, schedule and cost
• Mentors less-experienced Project Managers
