Job summary

Centerville-Washington Park District is seeking enthusiastic Temporary Program Assistants to support events, programs and camps. Shifts are mainly at nights and weekends, with occasional opportunities to assist in summer day camps, providing hands-on experience across a wide range of recreational activities.

The ideal candidate is at least 16, has reliable transportation, enjoys outdoors and working with children, and can learn quickly while following park rules.

Qualifications

• Be able to learn quickly and listen to instructions.
• Ability to work in group settings.
• Reliable transportation to various park sites.
• Experience with public speaking.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate program records through attendance and record keeping for all programs, as assigned.
• Help conduct a well-rounded program to meet the recreational needs of the children.
• Implement a schedule of activities, games, crafts and special events to provide a fun experience for children in the parks. Demonstrate, lead and help teach activities.
• Offer ideas for improvements to existing programs.
• Maintain an atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie between program participants, staff and volunteers.
• Assist with preparation of items necessary for each program or event.
• Set-up and clean-up programs, including a litter sweep and safety check at the park.
• Be able to learn quickly and listen to instructions.
• Ensure the safety of all participants by maintaining a safe, clean and controlled.
• Enforce all park rules and regulations.
• By setting an example, encourage proper use of parks and park equipment.
• Follow CWPD brand guidelines.
• Deliver fun, healthy and outstanding park experiences that connects the community with the outdoors.
• Other duties, as assigned.
