Qualifications

Now hiring at Graham Aquatic Center: Outdoor Pool Manager. Hours available Monday-Saturday 10:30am-7pm, and Sundays 11:30am-7pm.

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Pool Manager oversees the total operation of the facility, monitors daily pool operations to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, and supervises staff at the outdoor pool with support from the Aquatics Director/Program Director.

Essential Functions
  1. Manage the appearance, presentation, and maintenance of the outdoor pool facility.
  2. Assist in hiring, supervising, and scheduling staff.
  3. Review emergency procedures and safety rules; respond to emergencies according to YMCA policies.
  4. Identify and respond to customer needs and expectations.
  5. Maintain positive relationships with members, participants, and staff; enforce pool rules.
  6. Keep accurate records as required by the YMCA and State Health Department.
  7. Perform equipment checks and ensure availability of appropriate equipment.
  8. Inspect the pool for hazards upon arrival.
  9. Conduct chemical testing and take necessary actions.
  10. Maintain safety checks and monitor lifeguard rotations.
  11. Perform drop drills and aquatic skill assessments.
  12. Teach classes and serve as a lifeguard when needed.
  13. Communicate effectively with staff and community members.
  14. Maintain a neat pool area and perform general maintenance.
  15. Attend staff meetings and trainings; complete related reports.

Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 18
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, Lifeguard Certification
  • 2 years' experience supervising or managing in a service environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, POS systems)
  • Possibility to obtain Pesticide Applicator Certification and Certified Pool Operator training
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Requires physical skills of a lifeguard, ability to work outdoors, exposure to chemicals, and effective communication in loud environments. Lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally is required. Background checks and clearances are mandatory.
