Job summary

VSS International, Inc. is seeking a safe, hardworking Squeegee laborer for an outdoor road construction project in San Benito County, California. The position requires teamwork, adaptability, and strict adherence to safety rules while handling hand tools and materials.

Ideal candidates will assist with surface preparation, ensure material flow, and help achieve a uniform finished surface. The role is contingent on project award and is performed on site with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic pavement preservation, slurry seal, micro-surfacing, seal coat, or construction crew operations preferred.
• Ability to safely use hand tools (squeegees, brooms, shovels, lutes, scrapers) in outdoor environments.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions, hand signals, and crew direction.
• Strong awareness of surroundings around moving equipment and traffic.
• Dependable attendance and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and variable schedules.

Responsibilities

• Use hand tools to spread, smooth, finish, and clean up pavement materials.
• Assist with surface preparation, cleaning, masking, and debris removal before material application.
• Maintain proper material flow and assist with edging, feathering, and joint finishing.
• Set up and clean up hoses, cones, signs, barriers, and equipment at shift start and end.
• Work safely around trucks, heavy equipment, traffic, and utilities; coordinate with foreman and crew.
