Job summary

The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA, seeks a Nature Education Specialist to lead nature-based programming across departments and collaborate with community partners. You will develop inclusive outdoor offerings for schools, the public, and members, fostering environmental stewardship on the museum’s 140-acre campus.

You will supervise logistics and staff, contribute to grant work, and help train docents to expand access to nature programming.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of experience developing and delivering public programs.
• Background in environmental education, outdoor leadership, or community engagement.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Commitment to equal opportunity, accessibility, and inclusion in program design.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather and terrain.
• First aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee outdoor and nature-based programs (walks, events, workshops, snowshoeing, wellness).
• Collaborate with Gallery Education on nature-based school programs aligned to standards.
• Collaborate with Family and Community Programs to integrate nature programming.
• Work with Sustainability Manager to expand environmental initiatives.
• Build relationships with local/regional partners to broaden access.
• Supervise logistics, scheduling, budgeting, reports, and evaluation.
• Train docents to lead nature-based programming for schools and the public.
• May oversee part-time staff and interns.
• Contribute to grant proposals, reports, and donor communications.
• Represent the Clark’s natural campus and advocate for stewardship.
• Collaborate with contracted beekeeper on programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
