Job summary

Friends of the High Line is seeking a Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot and repair HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and wood structures in a dynamic, outdoor urban park. You will perform daily rounds, complete work orders in a CMS, and coordinate with staff, volunteers, and the public across all seasons.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of relevant maintenance experience, strong safety practices, and the ability to work outdoors and lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with electrical systems including lighting, outlets, switches, breakers, motors.
• Experience with carpentry repair including wood structures and seating.
• Experience with power tools, small motorized equipment, and vehicles.
• Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and/or a scissor lift.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Must have good communication and ability to follow instructions.
• Valid New York State driver’s license; OSHA, FDNY certificates of fitness, and Pool & Spa Operator certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on HVAC, lighting, electrical distribution for events, irrigation pumps, water feature, bathroom fixtures, security gates and cameras, elevators, fire alarms, and wood park furniture and decking.
• Conduct daily rounds and readings of mechanical areas; troubleshoot and maintain water feature components.
• Complete daily work orders in the CMS; track time, resources, and materials; respond to and close work orders within 24 hours.
• Perform other duties such as winter snow and ice removal.
