Job summary

The Maintenance Technician at Friends of the High Line performs hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC, LED lighting, electrical systems, irrigation pumps, water features, and wood decking. The role involves daily rounds, responding to issues, and recording work orders in a public outdoor environment across all seasons.

This is a full-time, year-round, non-exempt position based in New York City, offering an hourly rate of $30 and a strong benefits package including health,

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with electrical systems and troubleshooting.
• Carpentry repair experience including wood structures and seating.
• Experience with power tools and small motorized equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair on HVAC, lighting, electrical distribution, irrigation pumps, water feature, bathrooms, gates and cameras, elevators, and other park infrastructure.
• Conduct daily rounds and readings of mechanical areas and track work orders.
• Troubleshoot and maintain water feature components and monitor chemical levels.
• Safely operate tools and equipment in compliance with safety requirements.
• Assist with winter snow and ice removal as needed.
