Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) in Cathlamet, WA is seeking dependable Highway Maintenance Workers to join a dedicated team maintaining state highways and right-of-way. You will operate a range of maintenance equipment and perform hands-on repairs and inspections in an outdoor, team-based setting.

The role includes rotating 40-hour weeks across four 10-hour shifts and occasional night work, with opportunities to train others and lead a crew when needed.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL with N endorsement.
• Experience operating Class A,B, and C highway maintenance equipment and vehicles.
• Knowledge of MUTCD and safe work zone setup and signaling.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance equipment, trucks, tools to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Repair/maintain pavement, drainage, signs, guardrails and roadside infrastructure.
• Perform vegetation management, debris removal, and erosion control.
• Operate snow/ice control equipment and haul materials for safe travel.
• Set up/maintain traffic control including flagging and lane closures.
• Inspect and maintain equipment; perform minor repairs.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with partner agencies when needed.
• Provide work direction or training to crew members when in lead capacity.
