Job summary

Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking multiple Highway Maintenance Workers for night shifts across Seattle/Bellevue areas. Responsibilities include repairing and rebuilding highways and adjacent rights-of-way to maintain traffic flow and safety.

Ideal candidates will operate heavy equipment, coordinate traffic control, remove debris and snow, and meet safety requirements. This role emphasizes reliability, teamwork, and readiness for after-hours assignments.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of highway maintenance practices and structures.
• Ability to operate Class A/B/C heavy equipment.
• Proficiency with timekeeping, maintenance tracking, inventory, and cost estimating systems (HATS/WZDB/TSMS).

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level highway, roadside, infrastructure, and right-of-way maintenance and repair tasks.
• Operate Class A, B, and/or C heavy equipment to maintain state roadways and highways.
• Design and set up traffic control operations and closures per MUTCD standards.
• Remove dangerous debris from roadways and perform snow/ice removal.
• Assist with potential night-shift duties and emergency callouts.
