Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation in Hebbronville, TX seeks an Equipment Operator to perform highway maintenance using heavy machinery. The role involves operating tractor-trailers, graders, excavators and bulldozers, with routine PMI and repairs.

You may assist with traffic control and support a crew on projects, including emergency response and road maintenance. The position requires a valid Texas CDL Class A with N endorsement or ability to obtain within 120 days, and a minimum of one year

Qualifications

  • Experience operating heavy equipment such as tractor-trailer haul trucks, graders, excavators, bulldozers, paving machines, and dump trucks.
  • Valid state CDL Class A with N endorsement or ability to obtain within 120 days of employment.
  • Ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a range of heavy equipment and perform routine inspections and minor repairs.
  • Assist with traffic control by placing and gathering cones, signs and barricades.
  • Operate light equipment such as loaders, rollers, backhoes and street sweepers.
  • Lead a work crew on projects and ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform road/bridge maintenance as required.
