Job summary

The City of Panama City is seeking an Environmental Services Maintenance Assistant to operate moderately complex equipment in heavy traffic and confined spaces under the guidance of the Director of Public Works.

This is an emergency essential position involving preparation, repair, and recovery for the City before, during, and after storms or other events. Duties include driving trucks, PMs, cart handling, and assisting other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must have prior experience operating heavy machinery.
• Must hold Florida CDL Class B with Air Brakes endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate Trucks, Trailers and/or Boom Truck in heavy traffic.
• Unload solid waste vehicles at landfill sites; perform routine maintenance.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Handle garbage carts, dumpsters, and perform cleaning/repairs.
• Work outdoors in varied weather and comply with safety rules.
