Job summary

Muskegon Community College is seeking a grounds crew staff member to maintain a safe and orderly golf course environment and assist multiple department teams. Work includes mowing greens, fairways, tees, irrigation, and course cleanup outdoors.

Open until filled, with duties spanning equipment operation, safety adherence, and customer service. The role requires physical work and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs; prior grounds/landscaping experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior grounds/landscaping experience required.
• Prior commercial golf course experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability for vehicle and small engine maintenance and repair.
• Physical ability to lift 25 lbs. minimum with a preference for 50 lbs.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with people of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds.
• Demonstrated tact, judgment and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Highly motivated and solution-oriented with integrity and dedication to the college mission.
• Adaptable and flexible to changing tasks, processes and locations.

Responsibilities

• Mow greens, fairways and tee boxes; assist with rough as needed.
• Adjust holes and tee boxes daily.
• Irrigate/sprinkle fairways and greens.
• Clean up course and pick up sticks/brush to keep play smooth.
• Operate, clean and maintain all course equipment daily.
• Follow safety/health regulations; report unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
• Serve as course ranger when on site and address any concerns.
• Assist with equipment and vehicle readiness as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
