Responsibilities

  • Schedule tee times and prepare the facility for opening, including merchandising and stock of score cards/pencils.
  • Provide top-notch customer service to anticipate and address needs of course guests.
  • Balance cash drawer each morning/night as specified.
  • Assist with preparation for leagues and events.
  • Irrigate and maintain areas near clubhouse, parking, and signage.
  • Clean up course and pick up debris to prevent disruption to play.
  • Collect and clean range balls; manage equipment daily.
  • Operate and maintain golf carts and related equipment.
  • Adhere to safety and health regulations and report unsafe conditions.
  • Act as course ranger and address concerns during shifts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Muskegon Community College, an associate degree-granting institution of higher education, is a center for lifelong learning which provides persons the opportunity to attain their educational goals by offering programs that respond to individual, community, and global needs.

General Description

This position is responsible for maintaining a fun, welcoming, safe, secure, clean, and orderly golfing environment while assisting all teams within the department. The individual must be able to operate independently, demonstrate sound decision‑making, follow appropriate safety practices, and deliver top‑notch customer service across multiple areas, including but not limited to the clubhouse, parking lots, equipment, and select grounds areas.

Essential Function:
  1. Perform all duties related to scheduling tee times, preparing the facility for opening including maintaining the merchandising, cleanliness and supplies of score cards/pencils available.

  2. Use top notch customer service to anticipate and address the needs of all of our course guests.

  3. Balance cash drawer each morning/night as specified.

  4. Assist with preparation for leagues and events.

  5. Sprinkling/irrigation of areas assigned including flowers and flower boxes near clubhouse, parking lot and signage.

  6. Clean up course and pick up garbage throughout facility including sticks/brush and other things that may disrupt play on the course.

  7. Pick‑up range balls on range and those in/around fence; cleaning used range balls and equipment daily.

  8. Operate, clean and maintain all equipment daily including carts and golf boards.

  9. Adhere to all safety and health regulations, and report all unsafe conditions to Supervisor.

  10. Act as course ranger at any time while at facility addressing concerns or reporting issues even when utilizing free golf benefit.

  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Environmental Factors:
  1. Must be able to adjust to differing weather conditions as all work is a mix of indoors/outdoors.

  2. Occasional lifting 25-50 lbs.; Regular lifting 25 lbs or less.
