Backcountry is seeking a Retail Store Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager in daily operations at our brick-and-mortar location. The ideal candidate loves the outdoors and brings proven retail leadership, strong communication, and a passion for service.

Responsibilities include inventory control, visual merchandising, opening/closing, cash handling, and staff training to deliver exceptional customer experiences and drive sales.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in retail management.
• Passion for outdoor activities and knowledge of outdoor gear and apparel.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Knowledge of retail operations, inventory management, and visual merchandising.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including holidays, evenings, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in day-to-day operations, including inventory management, visual merchandising, and customer service.
• Keep the store clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Assist in opening and closing the store.
• Ensure alarms and security systems function properly.
• Handle cash and card transactions and perform daily reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels and report discrepancies.
• Train and supervise retail staff to ensure knowledge of processes and products.
• Protect store assets following loss prevention and safety standards.
• Develop relationships with customers to build loyalty and repeat business.
• Support marketing and promotional activities to increase sales.
