Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seeks a hardworking Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 for Mercer County. You will operate heavy equipment, build and repair infrastructure, manage habitat projects, and assist with prescribed fires across forests and fields to support healthy ecosystems and public access.

This is a full-time, outdoor position with a 40-hour work week (7:00 AM–3:30 PM). Telework is not available; wage ranges are listed and starting salaries may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

• One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment.
• One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment.
• One year of construction equipment operation experience.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Construction Activities: Build and maintain bridges, roads, parking areas, gates, signs, and public ranges.
• Habitat Management: Develop and maintain wildlife habitat areas and openings; plant shrubs and seedlings; clear overgrowth.
• Equipment Operation: Use heavy equipment, lawn mowers, chainsaws, snow removal equipment, and other tools safely.
• Program Support: Apply herbicides and pesticides, conduct controlled burns, and support landowner programs.
• Boundary Maintenance: Read maps, post signs, and assist with land surveys to maintain boundaries.
• Safety and Reporting: Follow safety procedures, report violations, and attend required training.
