Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, via the Pennsylvania Game Commission, seeks a hands-on Game Lands Maintenance Worker 1 to build, repair, and maintain game lands and habitats across forests and fields. You will operate heavy equipment, assist with prescribed fires, and support conservation and public access.

This full-time, outdoor role emphasizes craftsmanship and physical work, with schedules Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, and AWS options.

Qualifications

• One year of laboring experience using construction tools and equipment.
• One year of farming experience using agricultural tools and equipment.
• One year of construction equipment operation experience.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Construction Activities: Help build and maintain bridges, roads, parking areas, gates, signs, and public ranges.
• Habitat Management: Help develop and maintain wildlife habit areas and herbaceous openings by planting shrubs and seedlings as well as clearing overgrowth
• Equipment Operation: Use heavy equipment, lawn mowers, chainsaws, snow removal equipment, and other tools to complete assigned projects safely
• Program Support: Assist with applying herbicides and pesticides, conducting controlled burns, and various landowner and other programs
• Boundary Maintenance: Help maintain and reestablish boundary lines by reading maps, posting signs, and helping with land surveys
• Safety and Reporting: Follow all safety procedures, report violations or unsafe conditions, and attend required training
